Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
It is hard to believe that we have almost completed another school year. As we quickly
approach the end of the year, I want to pass along some important information.
The last scheduled day for students is Thursday, May 23. It is a regular school day (NO EARLY RELEASE). As we do every year, we will have grade level award ceremonies on that day. Each of these will take place in the middle school gymnasium. Times are as follows:
8:00 to 8:30 a.m. - 7th grade awards
8:45 to 9:15 a.m. - 8th grade awards
9:40 to 10:10 a.m. - 6th grade awards
You are all welcome to attend. We ask that you come in through the gymnasium lobby entrance.
On the last day of school we will be serving lunch to all students. The menu is a hot dog, bag of chips, cookie, and water. If your student would prefer to pack, they are more than welcome to do so. Please make sure that if they have an outstanding balance, you take care of this. If you have questions contact Vanessa Swinderman, the Food Service Supervisor, at (937) 783-5782.
Students will attend all classes on the last day of school and need to make sure that all textbooks, assignments, projects, assessments and other materials have been eturned. Students will have time on the last day of school to clean out their locker. If for some reason your student is not present the last day of school, the items will only be kept in the locker until the end of the day on Friday, May 24, unless you contact the office to make other arrangements.
The last thirty minutes of the school day we will have our end of semester prize drawings. We have some great prizes and students must be present to receive a prize if their name is drawn.
Report cards will be mailed the week of May 28 and will contain your student’s report card, supply list for the next school year and other important information. If your address has changed, please contact the office as soon as possible so we can ensure you receive the report card and other correspondences over the summer. If you do not receive a report card by June 1, please contact the middle school office.
Students that will be in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade that are planning to participate in a school sponsored sport and need a physical, can do so on Thursday, May 23 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Wilmington College. The cost is $10 per student, and all of the money will come back to our athletic department. More information can be found on the Blanchester Athletics website ( http://blanchesterathletics.weebly.com/ ). This is an excellent way to stay up to date with schedules, results, tryouts, paperwork, and much more. If you have further questions please contact Bryan Pennix, Athletic Director, at (937) 783-2461 ext. 4115.
Lastly, there is a survey on the school website that we are asking parents and guardians to take to give the district feedback about various topics. This is an anonymous survey that should take less than five minutes. You can find a link to the survey on the district webpage ( www.blan.org ) in the top right corner.
The staff and I would like to thank you for all of your support this year and we hope that all of you have a relaxing and safe summer! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (937) 783-3642.
Sincerely,
Joel M. King
Principal
